Nice electric kettle
I like:
- The stainless still design
- Boils the water quickly
- Round base - easy put back on base from any direction

I don’t like:
- The cover cannot be detached - inconvenient to fill water or clean
- The water level indicator is behind the handle - difficult to see

Long time tea drinker
I got the Model 677 about 2 months ago as a replacement for a similar item received as a gift several years ago. This kettle makes hot water just fine - very happy with that part. It is also the right size, and capacity. The issue with it is the lid. There is no reason to have an attached button actuated lid. That one feature obstructs cleaning the inside, and provides opportunity for breakage. Breakage either due to mechanical failure or accident seems almost certain. The “old” kettle had a removable lid — perfect! I strongly recommend Chef Choice produce this with a removable lid, with the same size opening as the model 677, or larger. The other problem with the lid is that my wife cannot hold the pot under the faucet because of a shoulder / arm problem. She must sit it down fill it, then lift with both hands. The lid does not open far enough to do this. It would have to open at least 90 degrees, and that would be a problem for many sinks. So the simple and correct solution is removable lid! One last item, as others have noted in their reviews, the level indicator is hard to read. It easy to read on the old model (Toastess I believe it was).

Hot stuff!
Does exactly what it’s supposed to do and looks classy on the counter top. Is it my imagination or does my coffee and tea taste better?

Best Grill Griddle I ever had
I have had quite a few electric grills and griddles in my lifetime. This one is the best of all. Great cooking, easy to clean - definitely worth the extra expense fot this unit. Sorry I did not have it years ago. It is a large unit and I have a small kitchen but because I really like to use it, I keep it on my counter top at all times. Fantastic!

Excellent product! No smoking or grease spatter. Have cooked steaks with a good amount of fat, and they turn out perfect every time. I haven’t even had to clean the drip pan yet! Nothing in it. It does get really hot though depending on setting you choose, so I place it on top of my electric stove (burners off of course) with a glass counter protector under it. Turn on the exhaust fan and cook away. I personally wouldn’t advise cooking on the counter due to heat rising up under the overhead cabinets, but that’s personal preference. I haven’t used the griddle side yet, but the grill is awesome! Very easy to clean. Pretty big so you can cook a lot on it, so you need a fairly large cabinet to store it. Good looking enough to leave on the counter if you have the room. I would highly recommend this product. I spent a year looking at other products in this category, because I can’t always fire up *Big Bertha* (my Weber gas grill), so this is the one I settled on, and so glad I did!

My choice is Chef’s Choice!
I am SO happy with this kettle. I agonized over 3 designs, 2 brands and feel this was the correct choice. It looks great on the counter-top, heats very quickly and is easy to clean.

Fast heater, bad smell
This is a slick water heater. It is 1500 watts so it heats the water quickly. It doesn’t have any insulation so the water doesn’t stay hot, but it doesn’t take long to reheat. The electrical connection is through the base, so if you take the kettle off the base the connections shuts off, and that’s slick. The kettle does make the water hot!

What’s not to like? Well, the inside of the kettle is stainless steel with a stainless steel tube running from the bottom to above the water level. On top of the tube they put on a plastic cover! The plastic cover plus the plastic nut holding the handle on the lid imparts a smell and a bit of a taste to the water. We used it for about 2 weeks then decided to order a replacement kettle (different brand). We don’t usually send things back so this kettle may end up in my shop for when I need hot water.

I’d like to recommend this product, but the plastic parts pretty much ruin it, in my opinion.

Electric Teakettle
This kettle heats quickly and works well, but the hot water it generates has a metallic taste to it. I’ve tried different waters, but the taste is always the same. For this reason I would not purchase it again. I am hoping that in time that taste may disappear, but it’s several months old now and it has not changed.

Works fine
Works just fine. Only request would be for an on/off switch so you don’t always have to unplug it. Otherwise, great for the price.

Great little whistling electric tea kettle
My old Hot Pot finally died and so I bought this one a couple of months ago. I love the fact that it whistles when the water is boiling because sometimes it’s easy to forget. It doesn’t take long and your water is hot. It’s the perfect size and works very well. I highly recommend this electric tea kettle.

Low profile and super fast
The low profile makes this kettle superior to many of the others- there is no danger of knocking it over and it is easy to fill under the faucet. The kettle is superfast, easy to fill with a little notch inside the spout to show the full line and easy to pour. The cord is short but I don’t find it a problem. The whistle is great, the water is usually done by the time I have the teapot and tray ready.

I also use this teakettle to heat water to pour down my drains to keep them running without the use of chemicals. It is so easy to take this upstairs, fill it, boil the water and pour it down the bathroom sink drain to keep it clear. Before this I had to carry a kettle of boiling water upstairs. There is no on/off switch but that seems to be the way they are making most electric appliances, my grill, waffle maker and panini press are all like that. Buy it on sale, you can’t go wrong.
